Limited Show Judge's Critique

I would like to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to judge the breed. I also thank the exhibitors for entering their quality dogs under me. The atmosphere and sportsmanship from exhibitors and spectators made my day a very enjoyable one. All bites were correct and I found one monorchid. Front movement in general still has a way to go and there were far too many flat open feet with thin pads especially in the males. That said I felt I had a quality entry.

Both the exhibits appeared to have had no ring training which made them more difficult to assess.
1st Powell's Dassett Jeremy Fisher at Wild Perry. 6 months, promising head, good coat and super pelt. Moved o.k. at times but seemed a little overawed.
2nd Read's Big Star Olympic Hero. 7 months, blue, looking more mature but I felt he had a little too much stop and his feet could have been tighter, trimming might have improved this.

1st Steven's Cobstoneway Ocean Sunrise 7 months blue, narrow all through, best feet in the class. Moved steadily, balanced head with flat skull, just hope he has finished growing.
2nd Morgan's Blewecourt Iowa 10months r/gr. built on similar lines, good tail and set. I just preferred the length of rib of the 1st and his feet could be tighter
3rd Read's Chintaku Boris.

Junior - Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 0
1st Guverchin's Glebeheath Jump the Gun. Blue who was the most balanced in the class. Lovely feet and well presented coat. Good top line and tail set. Good depth to muzzle. Moved steadily but would like more drive.
2nd Dean's Tyrian Outlaw Balanced head although a little large in ear, not as good in top line or tail set as 1st. Moved o.k.
3rd Stone's Olderhill Cadfael.

1st Cobbledick's Laurelton Midnight Cowboy. Presented a lovely outline with everything flowing through. Good layback of shoulder, correct tail set, good bend of stifle, flat skull. A class full of promising babies.
1st Dean's Cedarhill Wish upon a Star. I wouldn't change anything about her at present. I fell in love with her. A confident promising pup in lovely double coat with a thick loose pelt. B.P.I.S.
2nd Freeman's Borderella Snap Dragon. Slightly taller with good coat and pelt. A little longer in the muzzle than the 1st but presents a good outline, not as confident on the move as yet but further on than her sister who was 3rd.
3rd South's Borderella Sweet Pea.

Puppy - Bitch Entries: 6 Absentees: 0
1st Philpott and Atkin's Amicaoptima Blue Vision.
2nd Irving's Dandyhow Femme Fatale. Both blues, very feminine and of similar age. Both moved out well. I preferred the feet of the 2nd but the hind angulation of the 1st and felt she had more scope and a more mature coat.
3rd Morgan's Blewecourt Indiana.

Junior - Bitch Entries: 12 Absentees: 3
1st Girling's Benattivo Double Flame. 16 month red who presented an overall finished picture. Good head, lovely angulation fore and aft. Nice strong carrot tail set on well. Thick pelt and the most super pin wire double coat. An easy winner of this class and moved out well to take B.B. and B.I.S.
2nd Dean and Whytes Cedarhill Irresistabelle. Blue, again nice angles all round, not as strong in under jaw and slightly too strong in skull for a bitch for me.
3rd Nitarska's Cedarhill Madame Butterfly Litter sister to above.

Maiden - Bitch Entries: 13 Absentees: 0
1st Dean's Mattedonn Farthing. 17 months very feminine, in good coat and pelt. Balanced head, tight feet, and easily spannable. Moved o.k.

1st Dean's Tyrian Amulet. Reserve Best Bitch
2nd Stockley's Foxfactor Cue the Music. Two very similar bitches in colour and on the stand. Both narrow and easily spannable with good angles and in nice tight double coat. I preferred the shorter muzzle of the 1st and in the final move she used her hindquarters better.
